RESUMO

Minimally invasive surgery is a kind of surgical operation, which is performed by using professional surgical instruments and equipment to inactivate, resect, repair or reconstruct the pathological changes, deformities and wounds in human body through micro-trauma or micro-approach, in order to achieve the goal of treatment, its surgical effect is equivalent to the traditional open surgery, while avoiding the morbidity of conventional surgical wounds. In addition, it also has the advantages of less trauma, less blood loss during operation, less psychological burden and quick recovery on patients, and these minimally invasive techniques provide unique value for the examination and treatment of gastric cancer patients. Surgical minimally invasive surgical techniques have developed rapidly and offer numerous options for the treatment of early gastric cancer (EGC): endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), underwater EMR (UEMR), endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), endoscopic full-thickness resection (EFTR), endoscopic submucosal excavation (ESE), submucosal tunnel endoscopic resection), laparoscopic and endoscopic cooperative surgery (LECS); Among them, EMR, EFTR and LECS technologies have a wide range of applications and different modifications have been derived from their respective surgical operations, such as band-assisted EMR (BA-EMR), conventional EMR (CEMR), over-the-scope clip-assisted EFTR, no-touch EFTR, the inverted LECS, closed LECS, and so on. These new and improved minimally invasive surgeries are more precise, specific and effective in treating different types of EGC.

RESUMO

Carbonaceous aerosols were collected in the valley city of Baoji city in Northern China in August 2022. The light absorption characteristics and influencing factors of black carbon (BC) and brown carbon (BrC) were analyzed, and their radiative forcing was estimated. The results showed that the light absorption of secondary brown carbon [AbsBrC,sec (370)] was 7.5 ± 2.4 Mm-1, which was 2.5 times that of primary brown carbon [AbsBrC,pri (370), 3.0 ± 1.2 Mm-1]. During the study period, the absorption Ångström exponent (AAE) of aerosol was 1.6, indicating that there was obvious secondary aerosol formation or carbonaceous aerosol aging in the valley city of Baoji. Except for secondary BrC (BrCsec), the light absorption coefficient (Abs) and mass absorption efficiency (MAE) of BC and primary BrC (BrCpri) during the persistent high temperature period (PHT) were higher than those during the normal temperature period (NT) and the precipitation period (PP), which indicated that the light absorption capacity of black carbon and primary brown carbon increased, while the light absorption capacity of secondary brown carbon decreased under persistent high temperature period. Secondary aerosols sulfide (SO42-), nitrate (NO3-) and secondary organic carbon (SOC) are important factors for promoting the light absorption enhancemen of BC and BrCpri and photobleaching of BrCsec during persistent high temperature period. The Principal Component Analysis-Multiple Linear Regression (PCA-MLR) model showed that traffic emissions was the most important source of pollution in Baoji City. Based on this, the secondary source accelerates the aging of BC and BrC, causing changes in light absorption. During PHT, the radiative forcing of BC and BrCpri were enhanced, while the radiative forcing of BrCsec was weakened, but the positive radiative forcing generated by them may aggravate the high-temperature disaster.

RESUMO

Importance: Perioperative anxiety is prevalent among patients undergoing surgical treatment of cancer and often influences their prognosis. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) has shown potential in the treatment of various anxiety-related disorders, but data on the impact of tDCS on perioperative anxiety are limited. Objective: To evaluate the effect of tDCS in reducing perioperative anxiety among patients undergoing laparoscopic colorectal cancer (CRC) resection. Design, Setting, And Participants: This randomized clinical trial was conducted from March to August 2023 at the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University. Patients aged 18 years or older undergoing elective laparoscopic radical resection for CRC were randomly assigned to either the active tDCS group or the sham tDCS group. Intention-to-treat data analysis was performed in September 2023. Interventions: Patients were randomly assigned to receive 2 sessions of either active tDCS or sham tDCS over the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex on the afternoon of the day before the operation and in the morning of the day of operation. Main Outcomes and Measures: The main outcome was the incidence of perioperative anxiety from the day of the operation up to 3 days after the procedure, as measured using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale-Anxiety (HADS-A) subscale (range: 0-21, with higher scores indicating more anxiety). Secondary outcomes included postoperative delirium (assessed by the Confusion Assessment Method or Confusion Assessment Method intensive care unit scale); pain (assessed by the 10-point Numeric Rating Scale [NRS], with scores ranging from 0 [no pain] to 10 [worst pain]); frailty (assessed by the Fatigue, Resistance, Ambulation, Illness and Loss of Weight [FRAIL] Index, with scores ranging from 0 [most robust] to 5 [most frail]; and sleep quality (assessed by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index [PSQI], with scores ranging from 0 to 21 and higher scores indicating worse sleep quality) after the 2 sessions of the tDCS intervention. Results: A total of 196 patients (mean [SD] age, 63.5 [11.0] years; 124 [63.3%] men) were recruited and randomly assigned to the active tDCS group (98 patients) or the sham tDCS group (98 patients). After the second tDCS intervention on the day of the operation, the incidence of perioperative anxiety was 38.8% in the active tDCS group and 70.4% in the sham tDCS group (relative risk, 0.55 [95% CI, 0.42-0.73]; P < .001). Patients in the active tDCS group vs the sham tDCS group were less likely to have postoperative delirium (8.2% vs 25.5%) and, at 3 days after the operation, had lower median (IQR) pain scores (NRS, 1.0 [1.0-1.0] vs 2.0 [2.0-2.0]), better median (IQR) sleep quality scores (PSQI, 10.5 [10.0-11.0] vs 12.0 [11.0-13.0]), and lower median (IQR) FRAIL Index (2.0 [1.0-2.0] vs 2.0 [2.0-3.0]). Conclusions and Relevance: Findings of this randomized clinical trial indicate that administration of 2 preoperative sessions of tDCS was associated with a decreased incidence of perioperative anxiety in patients undergoing elective CRC resection. Active tDCS was also associated with better anxiety scores, pain levels, and sleep quality as well as reduced postoperative delirium and frailty. The findings suggest that tDCS may be a novel strategy for improving perioperative anxiety in patients undergoing CRC resection. RESUMO

Background: Postoperative sleep disturbance (PSD) is a common and serious postoperative complication and is associated with poor postoperative outcomes. Aims: This study aimed to investigate the effect of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on PSD in older patients undergoing lower limb major arthroplasty. Methods: In this prospective, double-blind, pilot, randomised, sham-controlled trial, patients 65 years and over undergoing lower limb major arthroplasty were randomly assigned to receive active tDCS (a-tDCS) or sham tDCS (s-tDCS). The primary outcomes were the objective sleep measures on postoperative nights (N) 1 and N2. Results: 116 inpatients were assessed for eligibility, and a total of 92 patients were enrolled; 47 received a-tDCS and 45 received s-tDCS. tDCS improved PSD by altering the following sleep measures in the a-tDCS and s-tDCS groups; the respective comparisons were as follows: the promotion of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep time on N1 (64.5 (33.5-105.5) vs 19.0 (0.0, 45.0) min, F=20.10, p<0.001) and N2 (75.0 (36.0-120.8) vs 30.0 (1.3-59.3) min, F=12.55, p<0.001); the total sleep time on N1 (506.0 (408.0-561.0) vs 392.0 (243.0-483.5) min, F=14.13, p<0.001) and N2 (488.5 (455.5-548.5) vs 346.0 (286.5-517.5) min, F=7.36, p=0.007); the deep sleep time on N1 (130.0 (103.3-177.0) vs 42.5 (9.8-100.8) min, F=24.4, p<0.001) and N2 (103.5 (46.0-154.8) vs 57.5 (23.3-106.5) min, F=8.4, p=0.004); and the percentages of light sleep and REM sleep on N1 and N2 (p<0.05 for each). The postoperative depression and anxiety scores did not differ significantly between the two groups. No significant adverse events were reported. Conclusion: In older patients undergoing lower limb major arthroplasty, a single session of anodal tDCS over the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex showed a potentially prophylactic effect in improving postoperative short-term objective sleep measures. However, this benefit was temporary and was not maintained over time.

RESUMO

The construction of stable hierarchical surfaces through structural engineering is the key to improve reactive active sites and cycle stability to achieve high cycle performance of supercapacitors (SCs). In this work, the NiCo-LDH nanoflower as a structure guide agent was used to support NiCoB nanosheets to form a dense and stable hierarchical structure, thereby exposing more active sites and improving cycle stability. Due to the hierarchical stable surface structure, the NiCoB-0.3@NiCo-LDH-30 electrode has an excellent specific capacitance of 2710F g-1 at 1 A/g due to the excellent electrochemical active surface area (1259 mF cm-2), improving the OH- diffusion coefficient (2.4 × 10-9 cm2 s-1) and decreasing ionic diffusion barrier. After 5000 cycles, NiCoB-0.3@NiCo-LDH-30 electrode still has 92.6 % initial specific capacitance. In order to balance the energy density decrease caused by the capacitance imbalance between positive and negative electrodes, the cubed carbon (Co-C) derived from cobalt metal organic frameworks (Co-MOFs) as cathode with a good specific capacitance of 220F g-1 at 1 A/g is prepared. The assembled NiCoB-0.3@NiCo-LDH-30//Co-C hybrid SCs (HSCs), which are assembled with NiCoB-0.3@NiCo-LDH-30 electrode as anode and Co-C electrode as cathode, displays an energy density of 75 Wh kg-1 at a power density of 741 W kg-1.

RESUMO

Triclocarban (TCC), an emerging organic contaminant, poses a potential threat to human health with long-term exposure. Here, Rhodococcus rhodochrous BX2 and Pseudomonas sp. LY-1 were utilized to degrade TCC at environmental related concentrations for enhancing TCC biodegradation and investigating whether the toxicity of intermediate metabolites is lower than that of the parent compound. The results demonstrated that the bacterial consortium could degrade TCC by 82.0% within 7 days. The calculated 96 h LC50 for TCC, as well as its main degradation product 3,4-Dichloroaniline (DCA) were 0.134 mg/L and 1.318 mg/L respectively. Biodegradation also alleviated histopathological lesions induced by TCC in zebrafish liver and gut tissues. Liver transcriptome analysis revealed that biodegradation weakened differential expression of genes involved in disrupted immune regulation and lipid metabolism caused by TCC, verified through RT-qPCR analysis and measurement of related enzyme activities and protein contents. 16 S rRNA sequencing indicated that exposure to TCC led to gut microbial dysbiosis, which was efficiently improved through TCC biodegradation, resulting in decreased relative abundances of major pathogens. Overall, this study evaluated potential environmental risks associated with biodegradation of TCC and explored possible biodetoxification mechanisms, providing a theoretical foundation for efficient and harmless bioremediation of environmental pollutants.

RESUMO

Health insurance stands as a pivotal facet of social wellbeing, with profound implications for the overarching landscape of economic development. The existing research, however, lacks consensus on the relationship between health insurance and economic performance and provides no evidence about the magnitude of the correlation. This lack of information seriously impedes the high-quality development of the healthcare system. Therefore, to scientifically elucidate the relationship between the two, this study involved a meta-analysis, analyzing 479 effect values derived from 34 independent research samples. The results reveal a strongly positive correlation between health insurance and economic performance [r = 0.429, 95% CI = (0.381, 0.475)]. Findings show that health insurance in developed countries more effectively fosters economic performance than in developing countries. Moreover, public health insurance exerts a stronger promoting effect on economic performance than commercial health insurance. The relationship between health insurance and economic performance is moderated by data type, research method, country of sample origin, literature type, journal impact factor, publication year, type of health insurance, and the research populations. Based on meta-analysis, this study not only scientifically responds to the controversy of the relationship between health insurance and economic performance, and the magnitude of a correlation, but also further reveals the inner conduction mechanism between the two. Our research findings are meaningful for policymakers to choose an appropriate healthcare strategy according to their unique attributes, propelling sustainable economic development.

RESUMO

The detection of trace antibiotic residues holds significant importance because it's related to food safety and human health. In this study, we developed a new high-yield red-emitting carbon dots (R-CDs) with aggregation-induced emission properties for ratiometric sensing of norfloxacin. R-CDs were prepared in 30 min using an economical and efficient microwave-assisted method with tartaric acid and o-phenylenediamine as precursors, achieving a high yield of 34.4 %. R-CDs showed concentration-dependent fluorescence and aggregation-induced-emission properties. A ratiometric fluorescent probe for detecting the norfloxacin was developed. In the range of 0-40 µM, the intensity ratio of two emission peaks (I445 nm/I395 nm) towards norfloxacin show good linear relationship with its concentrations and a low detection limit was obtained (36.78 nM). In addition, complex patterns were developed for anti-counterfeiting based on different emission phenomenon at different concentrations. In summary, this study designed a novel ratiometric fluorescent probe for detection of norfloxacin, which greatly shortens the detection time and improves efficiency compared with high-performance liquid chromatography and other methods. The study will promote the application of carbon dots in anti-counterfeiting and other related fields, laying the foundation for the preparation of low-cost photosensitive anti-counterfeiting materials.

RESUMO

Neuromyelitis optica is an inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system that differs from multiple sclerosis. Over the past 20 years, the search for biomarkers for neuromyelitis optica has been ongoing. Here, we used a bibliometric approach to analyze the main research focus in the field of biomarkers for neuromyelitis optica. Research in this area is consistently increasing, with China and the United States leading the way on the number of studies conducted. The Mayo Clinic is a highly reputable institution in the United States, and was identified as the most authoritative institution in this field. Furthermore, Professor Wingerchuk from the Mayo Clinic was the most authoritative expert in this field. Keyword analysis revealed that the terms "neuromyelitis optica" (261 times), "multiple sclerosis" (220 times), "neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder" (132 times), "aquaporin 4" (99 times), and "optical neuritis" (87 times) were the most frequently used keywords in literature related to this field. Comprehensive analysis of the classical literature showed that the majority of publications provide conclusive research evidence supporting the use of aquaporin-4-IgG and neuromyelitis optica-IgG to effectively diagnose and differentiate neuromyelitis optica from multiple sclerosis. Furthermore, aquaporin-4-IgG has emerged as a highly specific diagnostic biomarker for neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder. Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein-IgG is a diagnostic biomarker for myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease. Recent biomarkers for neuromyelitis optica include cerebrospinal fluid immunological biomarkers such as glial fibrillary acidic protein, serum astrocyte damage biomarkers like FAM19A5, serum albumin, and gamma-aminobutyric acid. The latest prospective clinical trials are exploring the potential of these biomarkers. Preliminary results indicate that glial fibrillary acidic protein is emerging as a promising candidate biomarker for neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder. The ultimate goal of future research is to identify non-invasive biomarkers with high sensitivity, specificity, and safety for the accurate diagnosis of neuromyelitis optica.

RESUMO

Fibroblast growth factor (FGF)21 is a peptide hormone that improves mitochondrial function and energy metabolism, and the deficiency of its coreceptor ßklotho (KLB) causes decreased FGF21 sensitivity. The present study examined whether the cardiac delivery of plasmids containing the KLB gene via ultrasoundtargeted microbubble destruction (UTMD) enhances the efficacy of FGF21 against heart failure postacute myocardial infarction (AMI). For this purpose, the levels of FGF21 in patients and rats with heart dysfunction postinfarction were determined using ELISA. SpragueDawley rats received the 3X UTMDmediated delivery of KLB@cationic microbubbles (KLB@CMBs) 1 week following the induction of AMI. Echocardiography, histopathology and biochemical analysis were performed at 4 weeks following the induction of AMI. The results revealed that patients with heart failure postinfarction had higher serum FGF21 levels than the healthy controls. However, the downstream signal, KLB, but not αklotho, was reduced in the heart tissues of rats with AMI. As was expected, treatment with FGF21 did not substantially attenuate heart remodeling postinfarction. It was found that decreased receptors KLB in the heart may result in the insensitivity to FGF21 treatment. In vivo, the UTMD technologymediated delivery of KLB@CMBs to the heart significantly enhanced the effects of FGF21 administration on cardiac remodeling and mitochondrial dysfunction in the rats following infarction. The delivery of KLB to the heart by UTMD and the administration of FGF21 attenuated mitochondrial impairment and oxidative stress by activating nuclear factor erythroid 2related factor 2 signals. On the whole, the present study demonstrates that the cardiac delivery of KLB significantly optimizes the cardioprotective effects of FGF21 therapy on adverse heart remodeling. UTMD appears a promising interdisciplinary approach with which to improve heart failure postmyocardial infarction.

RESUMO

Electron donor (D)-electron acceptor (A) type conjugated polymers present bright prospects as dopant-free hole-transporting materials (HTMs) for perovskite solar cells (PVSCs). Most of the reported D-A polymeric HTMs contain equivalent amounts of D and A units, while the appropriate excess proportion of D units could optimize the aggregation state of polymer chains and improve the hole transport properties of the polymers. Herein, a non-equivalent D-A copolymerization strategy was utilized to develop three indacenodithiophene-benzotriazole-based polymeric HTMs for PVSCs, named as F-10, F-15, and F-20, and the equivalent D-A polymer F-00 was studied in parallel. Effects of D : A ratio on the hole transport properties of these D-A type polymeric HTMs, including energy level, molecular stacking, hole mobility, and surface morphology, were investigated by theoretical simulation and test analysis. F-15 performed best due to the appropriate D : A ratio, endowing the PVSCs a champion power conversion efficiency of 20.37 % with high stability, which confirms the fine-tuning D : A ratio via non-equivalent D-A copolymerization strategy is very helpful to construct D-A type polymeric HTMs for high-performance PVSCs.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: A designathon is a three-stage participatory activity informed by design thinking. There is a growing literature on designathons in health. This study synthesised designathons' effectiveness and implementation-related factors to address health challenges. METHODS: We searched Cochrane Library, Embase, PubMed, Scopus and the ClinicalTrials.gov registry for articles containing primary data on designathons for health from their dates of inception to 29 November 2022. We retrieved additional studies from citation searching and a complementary open call. We synthesised data on designathons' effectiveness (ie, engagement, outputs and implementation), required resources and implementation-related factors (ie, resources, facilitators, barriers, strengths and limitations). We assessed the risk of bias using a checklist adapted from Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal tools. RESULTS: In total, 4973 citations were identified, and 42 studies were included. In total, 26 studies (62%) were from high-income countries. The median number of total participants was 49, divided into a median of 8 teams. The duration of the intensive collaboration phase ranged from 3 hours to 7 days. Common evaluation criteria were feasibility, innovation and impact. Idea and prototype outputs included mobile phone applications, educational programmes and medical devices. Interventions developed from a designathon was estimated to be highly cost-effective. The most common facilitators were interdisciplinary participants and high-quality mentorship. The most common barriers were suboptimal execution of the events, difficulties in balancing interdisciplinary participants across teams and limited support for participants along the process. There were limited data on required resources and further implementation of solutions after designathons. CONCLUSION: Given designathons' adaptability in terms of budget, mode of delivery, type of output and involvement of diverse participants, including end users, designathons can be implemented in a wide range of contexts to address various health issues. RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Lacunes are associated with cognitive impairment. We sought to identify strategic lacune locations associated with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and subtypes of MCI among older adults, and further to examine the role of white matter hyperintensities and perivascular spaces in the association. METHODS: This population-based cross-sectional study included 1230 dementia-free participants in the brain magnetic resonance imaging substudy (2018-2020) in MIND-China (Multimodal Interventions to Delay Dementia and Disability in Rural China). Lacunes were visually identified in frontal lobe, parieto-occipital lobe, temporal lobe, insula, basal ganglia, thalamus, cerebellum, and brainstem. MCI, amnestic MCI (aMCI), and nonamnestic MCI (naMCI) were defined following the Petersen's criteria. Data were analyzed using logistic regression models. RESULTS: Of the 1230 participants (age, ≥60 years; mean age, 69.40; SD, 4.30 years; 58.5% women), lacunes were detected in 357 people and MCI was defined in 286 individuals, including 243 with aMCI and 43 with naMCI. Lacunes in the supratentorial area, internal capsula, putamen/pallidum, and insula was significantly associated with increased odds ratio of MCI (multivariable-adjusted odds ratio ranged 1.40-3.21; P<0.05) and aMCI (multivariable-adjusted odds ratio ranged 1.46-3.36; P<0.05), whereas lacunes in the infratentorial area and brainstem were significantly associated with naMCI (multivariable-adjusted odds ratio ranged 2.68-3.46; P<0.01). Furthermore, the associations of lacunes in insula and internal capsula with MCI and aMCI, as well as the associations of lacunes in infratentorial area and brainstem with naMCI were present independent of white matter hyperintensities volume and perivascular spaces number. CONCLUSIONS: Lacunes in the internal capsula, putamen/pallidum, insula, and brainstem may represent the strategic lacunes that are independently associated with MCI, aMCI, or naMCI in Chinese older adults. RESUMO

Ovarian cancer, a group of heterogeneous diseases, presents with extensive characteristics with the highest mortality among gynecological malignancies. Accurate and early diagnosis of ovarian cancer is of great significance. Here, we present OvcaFinder, an interpretable model constructed from ultrasound images-based deep learning (DL) predictions, Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System scores from radiologists, and routine clinical variables. OvcaFinder outperforms the clinical model and the DL model with area under the curves (AUCs) of 0.978, and 0.947 in the internal and external test datasets, respectively. OvcaFinder assistance led to improved AUCs of radiologists and inter-reader agreement. The average AUCs were improved from 0.927 to 0.977 and from 0.904 to 0.941, and the false positive rates were decreased by 13.4% and 8.3% in the internal and external test datasets, respectively. This highlights the potential of OvcaFinder to improve the diagnostic accuracy, and consistency of radiologists in identifying ovarian cancer.

RESUMO

Intravital fluorescence imaging in the second near-infrared window (NIR-II, 900-1700 nm) has emerged as a promising method for non-invasive diagnostics in complex biological systems due to its advantages of less background interference, high tissue penetration depth, high imaging contrast, and sensitivity. However, traditional NIR-II fluorescence imaging, which is characterized by the "always on" or "turn on" mode, lacks the ability of quantitative detection, leading to low reproducibility and reliability during bio-detection. In contrast, NIR-II ratiometric fluorescence imaging can realize quantitative and reliable analysis and detection in vivo by providing reference signals for fluorescence correction, generating new opportunities and prospects during in vivo bioimaging and biosensing. In this review, the current design strategies and sensing mechanisms of NIR-II ratiometric fluorescence probes for bioimaging and biosensing applications are systematically summarized. Further, current challenges, future perspectives and opportunities for designing NIR-II ratiometric fluorescence probes are also discussed. It is hoped that this review can provide effective guidance for the design of NIR-II ratiometric fluorescence probes and promote its adoption in reliable biological imaging and sensing in vivo.

RESUMO

Hydrodynamic conditions play a crucial role in governing the fate, transport, and risks of metal elements. However, the contribution of hydrodynamic conditions to the fate and transport of heavy metals among water, sediment, and biofilm phases is poorly understood. In our study, we conducted experiments in controlled hydrodynamic conditions using a total of 6 two-phase and 9 three-phase mesocosms consisting of water, biofilm, and sediment. We also measured Cd (cadmium) specification in different phases to assess how hydrodynamic forces control Cd bioavailability. We found that turbulent flow destroyed the surface morphology of the biofilm and significantly decreased the content of extracellular polymeric substances (p < 0.05). This led to a decrease in the biofilm's adsorption capacity for Cd, with the maximum adsorption capacity (0.124 mg/g) being one-tenth of that under static conditions (1.256 mg/g). The Cd chemical forms in the biofilm and sediment were significantly different, with the highest amount of Cd in the biofilm being acid-exchangeable, accounting for up to 95.1% of the total Cd content. Cd was more easily released in the biofilm due to its weak binding state, while Cd in the sediment existed in more stable chemical forms. Hydrodynamic conditions altered the migration behavior and distribution characteristics of Cd in the system by changing the adsorption capacity of the biofilm and sediment for Cd. Cd mobility increased in laminar flow but decreased in turbulent flow. These results enhance our understanding of the underlying mechanisms that control the mobility and bioavailability of metals in aquatic environments with varying hydrodynamic conditions.

RESUMO

This study aims to assess the impact of semen collection methods on goat semen quality and seminal plasma (SP) proteomes. Semen was collected by artificial vagina (AV) or electro-ejaculator (EE) and semen parameters were evaluated. Tandem mass tag coupled with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry was used to screen SP differentially abundant proteins (DAPs) between EE and AV. PRM was used to confirm the reliability of the data. In contrast to EE, a lower volume, higher progressive motility and concentration were observed in AV. No differences were found in total motility, membrane integrity, acrosome integrity, and ROS production between EE and AV. In total, 1692 proteins were identified in SP, including 210 DAPs. Among them, 120 and 90 proteins were down-regulated and up-regulated in AV compared to EE, respectively. The GO annotation showed that DAPs are mainly localized in the membrane, involved in deference responses to bacterium, RNA processing, and related to oxidoreductase activity. KEGG demonstrated tight associations of DAPs with specific amino acids, carbon metabolism, citrate cycle, and propanoate metabolism. In conclusion, this study provides valuable insights into the effects of semen collection on goat semen quality and explores the potential action mechanism based on the modification of SP proteomes. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY: The quality of fresh semen directly influences the results of artificial insemination and semen cryopreservation in livestock. This study represents the first attempt to evaluate the impact of semen collection methods including electroejaculation and artificial vagina on sperm quality and seminal plasma proteomes in goat. The results of this study demonstrated that semen collection methods directly impacted the quality of goat semen. Then, the proteomic strategy was used to explore the potential action mechanism of semen collection methods on sperm. Some differentially abundant proteins that potentially influence semen quality were identified. Furthermore, this study suggests the possibility of utilizing specific proteins as predictive markers for goat semen quality.
